What is Epiduo for?

Epiduo is a brand medication that contains Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide, which belongs to a class of medications called retinoids (a type of Vitamin A), and benzoyl peroxide is a type of antiseptic. They work by stopping the formation of pimples in the skin. It is used to treat acne.

How to use it?

Epiduo is available as a cream or a gel. It is used once daily at night. You may reduce the frequency of application if necessary. Wash your hands before and after application of Epiduo. Do not apply on broken skin (e.g. cuts and abrasions), sunburned, inflamed or irritated skin.

What are the side effects of Epiduo?

Common side effects of Epiduo include burning or stinging sensation, drying and reddening of skin.

  • This medication may make the skin sensitive to light. Use sunscreen and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you use any other products on the affected area, such as cleansers, astringents or cosmetics.
  • Avoid using cosmetics with high alcohol content.
  • Avoid waxing as a method to remove hair on the treated skin.
  • If you experience allergic symptoms like skin rashes, difficulty breathing, swollen mouth/lips/eyes, stop using Epiduo and report to your doctor immediately.
