What is Mydocalm?

Mydocalm is a brand medication that contains Tolperisone, which belongs to a class of centrally acting muscle relaxants. It can stabilise the excessive electrical signals in the brain to treat post-stroke spasticity and conditions associated with muscle spasms.

How to use it?

Mydocalm is available as tablets. It should be taken with or after food. 

For muscle spasms, 
Adult
Start with 150mg daily, up to three times daily.


Children 6-14 years of age
Take 2-4mg/kg body weight daily in 3 divided doses


Children 3 months-6 years of age
Take 5mg/kg body weight daily in 3 divided doses. 

What are the side effects of Mydocalm?

Common side effects of Mydocalm include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, and muscle weakness.

Who should not take Mydocalm?

  • People who are allergic to Mydocalm or any components in the formulations
  • Patients with myasthenia gravis

Where to buy Mydocalm in Hong Kong?

In Hong Kong, Mydocalm is a prescription only medicine, and requires a prescription from a doctor to be purchased in a pharmacy. It can also be obtained from doctors. To find a pharmacy near you, refer to the list of pharmacies (“Authorized Sellers of Poisons”) from the Hong Kong Department of Health.
