Queen Elizabeth Hospital opened in 1963 and is the largest of Hong Kong’s 43 public hospitals. Like other public hospitals, it is under the supervision of the Hospital Authority (HA). Queen Elizabeth Hospital is managed by both the HA and its own Governing Committee to ensure quality care.
Located in Kowloon, Queen Elizabeth Hospital offers medical care in both inpatient and outpatient services. It has over 1,906 beds and a workforce of over 6,500 staff including about 500 doctors. It handles about ⅓ of all cancer patients in Hong Kong. It is not a university hospital but is the largest acute hospital in Hong Kong.

If you are looking for community clinics, you can go to any of the clinics under the Hospital Authority. The clinics can be found on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. Some of them are open for service in the evenings, Sundays, and public holidays, but in general, most of the outpatient clinics open at 8:30 in the mornings.

If you are an eligible person (i.e. holder of a HKID) and have medical insurance, public hospital costs can be reimbursed. Considering how low public fees are, most patients pay out-of-pocket.
