What is Zopiclone for?

Zopiclone is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic with a similar mechanism of action, as benzodiazepines and depress the central nervous system, hence used for promoting sleep and treating insomnia.

How to use it?

Zopiclone is taken as oral tablets just before bedtime for not more than 7-10 consecutive days.

3.75 mg once daily at bedtime, and if necessary, increase to 5 mg and then 7.5 mg.

What are the side effects of Zopiclone?

Common side effects of Zopiclone include palpitations, aggressive behavior, sweating, tremor and anorexia.

Who should not take Zopiclone?

– People who are allergic to Zopiclone or any component of the formulation
– Patients with severe respiratory impairment
– Patients with myasthenia gravis
– Patients with severe hepatic insufficiency
– Patients with a history of complex sleep behaviors after taking any nonbenzodiazepine sedative
