Wellbutrin is a brand medication that contains Bupropion, which belongs to a class of medications called norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitors (NDRIs). It works by inhibiting the reuptake of certain types of neurotransmitters so as to prolong brain activity. It is therefore used to treat major depression, and as an aid to smoking cessation treatment.
Wellbutrin is available as extended-release tablets. It has a 24-hour long effect and therefore can be taken once daily. Do not crush or chew it.
