Remeron is a brand medication that contains Mirtazapine, which belongs to a type of antidepressants known as Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs). It works by balancing different chemicals in your brain to improve your mood. Mirtazapine is therefore used to treat major depression and generalized anxiety disorder.
Remeron is available as orodispersible tablets.
The initial starting dose is 15-30 mg daily at bedtime for 2-4 weeks. The dose will then be adjusted according to your response. The maximum daily dose is 45 mg at bedtime.
Common side effects of Remeron include increased appetite, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, sedation, and increased weight.
