Proscar is a brand medication that contains Finasteride, which belongs to a class of medications called 5 alpha–reductase inhibitors. It is used to treat the signs of an enlarged prostate by lowering the level of a certain male hormone.
Proscar is available as tablets. For relieving the signs of an enlarged prostate, take 5 mg once daily; assess response after 12 weeks to 6 months.
Common side effects include dizziness, tiredness and loss of sex drive.
