Nebivolol belongs to a class of beta-blockers. It has many properties to treat cardiovascular conditions that work primarily at the heart. It works by slowing down the activity of your heart to reduce blood pressure. It also makes your heart work less hard to treat heart conditions like chronic heart failure and angina.
Nebivolol is available as tablets. It can be taken with or without food.
For chronic heart failure in addition to standard therapies for 70 years old or above, start with 1.25-2.5mg once daily, followed by 5mg and 10mg as maintenance dose. Dose increase is adjustment at weekly intervals.
For hypertension, take 5mg once daily, preferably at the same time each day.
Common side effects of Nebivolol include slow heartbeat, oedema, dizziness, shortness of breath, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, headache, and low blood glucose.
