Mucinex is brand medication that contains Guaifenesin, which belongs to a group of medications called expectorants. It works by thinning and liquefying your phlegm so that it can be coughed out more easily. Therefore, it is most commonly used for treating productive cough.
Mucinex is available as extended-release tablets. Do not break or chew the tablets. Swallow the whole tablet.
For adults or children above 12 years, The dose is 600-1200mg every 12 hours.
