Latuda is a brand medication that contains Lurasidone, which belongs to a class of medications called atypical antipsychotics. It works by balancing the chemicals in your brain and hence restores normal mood, mind, and behaviour. Lurasidone is therefore used to treat schizophrenia.
Latuda is available as tablets. It should be taken with food.
For Schizophrenia,
Adult
Initially 40 mg once daily. Usual dose range is 40-160 mg per day. Maximum dose is 160 mg daily.
Child 15-17 years
Initially 40 mg once daily. Usual dose range is 40-80 mg per day. Maximum dose is 80 mg daily.
Common side effects of Latuda include anxiety, drooling, fatigue, gastrointestinal discomfort, muscle pain and stiffness, difficulty sleeping, agitation, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, erectile dysfunction, insomnia, parkinsonism, seizure, tremor and vomiting.
Common dosing schedule:
Take once daily at the same time every day. It should be taken with food.
