What is Dopareel?

Dopareel is a brand medication that contains Zopiclone, which belongs to a class of non-benzodiazepine hypnotics. It has a similar mechanism of action like benzodiazepines and depresses the central nervous system to induce relaxation. It is therefore used for promoting sleep and treating insomnia.

How to use it?

Dopareel is available as tablets. Do not take more than 7-10 consecutive days.


For insomnia, take 3.75mg once daily at bedtime, and if necessary, increase to 5 mg and then 7.5 mg.

What are the side effects of Dopareel?

Common side effects of Dopareel include abnormal dreams, palpitations, aggressive behavior, sweating, tremor and anorexia.

Who should not take Dopareel?

  • People who are allergic to Dopareel or any component of the formulation
  • Patients with severe respiratory impairment
  • Patients with myasthenia gravis
  • Patients with severe hepatic insufficiency
  • Patients with a history of complex sleep behaviors after taking any Non-benzodiazepine hypnotics

Pharmacist Tips:

  • Ensure good sleep hygiene to aid sleep like keeping your nightly routine consistent and unplugging from electronics.
  • If you have experienced abnormal sleeping behaviors such as sleep-walking, report to your doctor or pharmacist immediately and discontinue Dopareel.
  • Use the lowest possible dose, and do not double the dose as it could cause extreme drowsiness and severe adverse effects.
  • Avoid abrupt withdrawal as it can cause withdrawal symptoms.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery after taking Dopareel.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol while you are on this medicine.

Dopareel is taken once daily at bedtime.
