Celebrex is a type of Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs, and more specifically as a COX-2 inhibitor. COX-2 is an enzyme that is responsible for pain signalling, and inhibiting this can reduce pain. It is mainly used for pain relief including menstrual pain, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Celebrex can be taken orally.
For pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis
Adult
200 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses
For pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis
Adult
200 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses, then increase if necessary to 200 mg twice daily.
For dysmenorrhoea / pain relief
Adult
Initially 400 mg, followed by 200 mg if necessary on the first day; Maintenance: 200 mg twice daily
For ankylosing spondylitis
Adult
200 mg daily in 1-2 divided doses, then increase if necessary up to 400 mg daily, discontinue if no improvement after 6 weeks on maximum dose and consider alternative therapy.
Only take one NSAIDs at any one time, and do not combine Celebrex with other NSAIDs medicines.
