Bioflor is a brand medication that contains Saccharomyces boulardii, which is a type of yeast known as probiotics. It works by inhibiting the activities of infection-causing bacteria and reducing the signal pathway that causes inflammation in the body. It is therefore used to treat acute infectious diarrhea and prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Bioflor is available as capsules and sachets. The capsules have to be swallowed with a mouthful of liquid. For sachets, the contents of the sachet should be mixed with water or another liquid or food. It should not be poured on or mixed with very cold or very hot (over 50°C) liquids or food nor alcoholic drinks.
