What is Avodart?

Avodart is a brand medication that contains Dutasteride, which belongs to a class of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It works by reducing the production of a hormone that is known to induce prostate enlargement in men. It is therefore used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

How to use it?

Avodart is available as capsules. Take it with or without food. The usual recommended dose is 1 capsule once daily at the same time every day.

What are the side effects of Avodart?

Common side effects of Avodart include impotence, ejaculatory disorder, decreased sex drive and dizziness.

Who should not take Avodart?

  • People who are allergic to any component of Avodart or other 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors.
  • Women (especially pregnant women) and children
