What is Alogliptin for?
Alogliptin belongs to a class of medication called dipeptidylpeptidase IV (DPP-4) inhibitors. It works by making the pancreas produce more insulin and less glucagon to control blood sugar level. It is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
How to use it?
Alogliptin is taken orally as tablets. The usual dose is 25 mg once daily. A lower dose is used in patients with poor kidney function.
What are the side effects of Alogliptin?
Common side effects of Alogliptin include headache, upper respiratory infection, or nasopharyngitis. This medication does not cause weight gain.
Who should not take Alogliptin?
People who are allergic to Alogliptin or any component of the formulation.
