Precious Blood Hospital expanded for more than 30 years after the Second World War, and in 1975 the Catholic Church in the United States and roughly 8,000 donors funded the George Washington Building. Then, in 1993, the Precious Blood doctors handed over management of the hospital to the Hong Kong Caritas Management and change its name to Blood Hospital (Caritas).

Inpatient services

At Precious Blood Hospital (Caritas), there are roughly 176 beds available. In every medical department, there are various room types available, ranging from single to standard 4-5 bedded. All room costs can be found in this link.

There is also a mixed ward located on the sixth floor as well as an all females third floor. Doctor, surgery, and anesthesiologist fees are discussed directly between the doctor and the patient on-site with all expenses required to be paid every 3 days.

For hospital admission, please bring a valid personal identification document/ travel document, admission letter/ referral letter filled out by an attending doctor, and an insurance medical card (if applicable).

Obstetrics (Maternity) and Gynaecology Services 

There has been an increase in demand for maternity services in both the public and private sectors in Hong Kong. To meet demand, the hospital began to renovate its facility to transform its third floor into a new department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This newly renovated department for both expecting and new mothers has been in service since September 1, 2009 and continues to serve the community with high-quality maternity care. Today, there are 3 standard rooms, 3 double rooms, and 1 single room as well as a nursery for 40-45 babies, 2 delivery rooms, and 2 operating theatres available, all following the most recent safety protocols.

At this hospital, there is a variety of maternity plans. Expecting mothers can choose from a normal vaginal delivery (3 days, 2 nights) or an elective Cesarean Section (4 days, 3 nights).
