What to know about Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) 廣華醫院 in Hong Kong? Here is your most up-to-date comprehensive guide with all the essential information.
Due to the activation of the Emergency Response Level, the Hospital Authority has announced a special visiting arrangement. Please note that some new measures have been taken for special outpatient clinic appointments in light of the pandemic. Important notes for visitors going to General outpatient clinics can be found here, as for specialist outpatient clinics, information can be found here.
As the situation in Hong Kong continues to evolve, it is always best to call ahead of time if you have any questions or concerns.
Kwong Wah Hospital started in 1911 and has a long history of providing a comprehensive range of services to the community in West Kowloon and Wong Tai Sin, under the mission of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) “to heal the sick and relieve the distressed”. It has now evolved into a major acute hospital in the Kowloon Central Cluster with more than 1,000 beds.
Conveniently located in Yau Ma Tei, the hospital is famously known for its accessibility as a Neurosurgical and Antenatal Diagnosis referral center.
Specialties:
In addition to the above expertise, the hospital has also established various clinical centers in recent years, such as a minimally invasive Surgery Training Centre, Integrated Breast Centre, and Nuclear Medicine site using the most advanced technology.
For the hospital’s full scope of services, please view it here.
The hospital has been undergoing reconstruction since 2019 to modernize the weathering, outdated facilities and accommodate more services in meeting the increasing needs of the modern society.
Apart from the demolition of almost all the existing buildings, the reconstruction comprises the construction of a new complex, alteration to TWGHs Tsui Tsin Tong Out-patient Buildings, as well as landscaping.
Its reconstruction is anticipated to be completed in 2026, with the provision of new services, namely emergency medicine ward and medical oncology. Meanwhile, existing services — including inpatient, accident and emergency, ambulatory, outpatient, operating theatres, intensive care, labor and delivery, diagnostic and interventional radiology, pathology, and allied health services — will be expanded by then.
You can monitor the reconstruction live webcast here.
From mother-friendly childbirth practice and all-round child development to relevant investigations, assessment, operations and treatment for detecting and treating any abnormalities at an early stage, a dedicated team of obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and social workers supports mothers of different needs throughout the whole birth-giving process.
To offer specialized self and infant care, the integrated Breast Centre and Dr. Stephen Chow Chun-kay Assisted Reproduction Centre have been established. View here for more details on gynaecology & obstetrics facilities or services available.
