Overview of Queen Mary Hospital

Queen Mary Hospital is a public hospital in Hong Kong under the Hospital Authority’s management. It is one of the largest acute regional public hospitals and also a teaching hospital for the University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine. It was established in 1937 and continues to follow its original values of empathy, expertise, and excellence. Queen Mary Hospital has gone through series of renovations and is today a top-notch, major hospital in Hong Kong.

There are currently 1,400 beds on site and as an acute hospital, Queen Mary Hospital provides services ranging from emergency to rehabilitation. It is a tertiary and quaternary referral centre for transplants, neonatal intensive care, pediatric surgery, assisted reproduction, oral maxillofacial surgery & dental surgery, burns and reconstructive surgery and neurosurgery for all of Hong Kong.  In addition, it has been a liver transplant center for Hong Kong in 2003.

Adult Intensive Care Unit at Queen Mary Hospital

The Queen Mary Hospital has an intensive care unit designated for adults who suffer life-threatening illnesses. This unit is a tertiary referral center for all major traumas as well as a teaching center for intensive care doctors and nurses. Recently, this unit expanded its services to general medical wards to provide physiological support to recently passed away patient to maximize the opportunities for organ donation.

Queen Mary Hospital provides Accident and Emergency services. There are specialists on-site 24-hours, who assist over 500 patients per day. When you arrive at the hospital, you can expect to be consulted and treated in a timely manner.
